The unique compound owned, developed and patented by Scyco is the result of many years of collaboration with some of the world’s leading natural product research teams. In the past 10 years, Scyco has developed a highly effective skincare formulation for the treatment of mild to moderate acne. Further research is underway to unlock other properties of its patented compound.
Jim Broadbent and his brother Bill founded Maclab, now a leading marine nutriceutical manufacturer in New Zealand. Maclab‘s research collaborations with RMIT, CSIRO and Shizuoka University led to the development of a potent anti-inflammatory
marine oil which is owned and distributed by Pharmalink International in over 20 countries.
These research collaborations also resulted in the discovery and patenting of a unique free radical scavenging compound that normalises sebum (oil) production in the skin. Scyco has now developed a formulation containing this compound
that is changing the nature of skin care.
Theo Macrides was born and educated in Perth, WA and completed his post doctorate in Chemistry at Oxford University. Since 1982 he has been a key member of the research team at RMIT that identified and synthesised the compound.
Andrew Broadbent has been a director of Maclab since 1999 and Scyco since 2012 after graduating from Melbourne University (B Comm Hons) and working for 5 years at SBC Warburg in Melbourne and UBS in London.
The hypoallergenic skin care formulation developed by Scyco has been tested on over 100 subjects, placebo controlled, with outstanding results in normalising oily skin and significantly reducing mild to moderate acne.
This is a significant breakthrough in skin care – excess oil is one of the biggest contributors in the formation of pimples and acne. The formulation also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that provide fast relief to problem skin.
This formulation contains none of the harsh, stringent chemicals (benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid) that have been the standard acne treatments for over 50 years. Unlike these traditional treatments it is gentle on the skin and has no side effects.
